A crash course (I won't teach you to crash honestly) is designed to speed up the process of learning. However, at Intensive Driver we focus our attention upon other factors too.
Many clients are unaware of the Driving Standards Agency grading system that all UK driving instructors are subject to. I was lucky enough to achieve a top grade on my last two check tests. Around 7% of instructors nationally achieve this grade.
Learner driving tests passed first time, (theory or practical) will reduce the cost of your training. Almost all learners should pass their theory test on the first attempt.
The interactive training packs available in bookstores allow you to practice theory questions and hazard perception tests. In addition, I give out theory test papers on each lesson (which are marked on the next lesson) to ensure clients don't neglect their theory work. Put the time in practicing and pass first time.
The practical test is a little more complex as sometime test nerves cause clients to drive in a way that deviates from what was learned on lessons. However, all test candidates who sit the test should have a good chance of passing on their first attempt.
Be sure to pass your theory test by the time you have taken around 20 hours tuition as the skills you develop by learning your theory material will help your driving. Also, you are unable to book a practical driving test until you have passed the theory.
Many in the driving tuition industry think that although the present driving test ensures a basic safety standard, the end result is less than ideal because of inexperience. Taking a Pass Plus course after passing your test will give you the opportunity to develop skills already learned and it may reduce your insurance costs.
When you are comfortable and at ease, you learn and remember more effectively. I pay particular attention to keeping clients up-beat and well motivated. This always pays off in the form of satisfied clients and test passes.
Clients who have lessons with other driving schools are welcome to take a short block of lessons to speed their progress towards test standard and remain with their existing instructor. I have a policy of not exceeding 5 hours tuition per week for any client.
If you live too far from my base or would rather have weekly lessons, try the Bishop Auckland Driving Instructors Association web-site or the Driving Instructors Association.
